TOTAL SOLAR

ECLIPSE

Experiencing a total solar eclipse is unlike any other event. It's a moment where day turns to night, the stars peek out, and the world around us transforms in a way that words can hardly capture. For this particular eclipse, I found myself at the Biosphere in Montreal, surrounded by around 2000 other awestruck souls, all gathered to witness this celestial dance.

The planning was almost serendipitous. Without a concrete plan for capturing the eclipse for NOMADslow.tv, I received an unexpected invitation from Richard Langevin to join him and Diane Dufresne at the Biosphere for her performance. Seizing the opportunity, my old friend, Carlos Aedo and I armed ourselves with a myriad of cameras and set off to immerse ourselves in what would be a surreal and enchanting experience.

Standing among the crowd, as the moon slid in front of the sun, casting an otherworldly shadow over us, the atmosphere was electric. There's a raw, primal beauty in these moments—a blend of enchantment, fear, majesty, and wildness that is profound. It's a rare occasion that brings people together, reminding us of our tiny place in the grand scheme of the universe.

For those brief minutes, as reality altered and the familiar became alien, I couldn't shake off the feeling of living within a meticulously crafted simulation. It was as though the very fabric of what we accept as reality was being peeled back to reveal a grander, more intricate design. It's a sensation that's both unsettling and awe-inspiring.

The accompanying music, improvised by ANTENNAE, with Montreal Guitar's Toby Read's atmospheric guitar licks joining in for the first time, should elevate the experience as it intertwines with the visual spectacle to create a truly immersive moment of oneness.

This eclipse gave us an opportunity to commune with the universe. For a brief moment, God and Nature converged, blurring the lines between the celestial and the terrestrial. It was a poignant reminder of the incredible beauty and mystery that surrounds us, often unnoticed in our daily lives.  The light, the air, the sound, suddenly all is new.

Capturing this event for NOMADslow.tv was about encapsulating the essence of this once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, about sharing a meditation of cosmic proportions, to pause, reflect, and marvel at the wonders of our universe. Join me in reliving this enchanting experience, where each frame is a testament to the grandeur and ephemeral beauty of the cosmos.

Love & Bliss,
